I love all of Portland's public artworks, from the giant scallion near Powell's to Hawthorne's decorated intersections, but my very favorite piece is the "fallen" column in Pioneer Courthouse Square, with its bronze chessboards, fallen bronze chess pieces, and bronze discarded Starbucks cup. So touchable! So human-scale! So Portland!
