Over 300 volunteers make the festival run each year—we couldn’t do it without them. The majority of the volunteers work the festival, escorting authors, answering questions and running the show, really. There are also a few opportunities throughout the year where volunteers can help get the word out and help with other special projects.
For a more thorough description of how you might be able to help, check out the festival volunteer team descriptions, here.
A core group of about 25 volunteers, listed on the board and staff page, is responsible for booking authors, coordinating volunteers, designing promotional materials, announcing the festival to the community, scheduling workshops and much more. If you have the time and the desire to be part of this team, let us know.

We’ll start taking volunteers for next year’s festival in the summer of 2013, so be sure to check back then to be part of Wordstock 2013!
This year’s book fair is October 5th and 6th at the Oregon Convention Center (Directions and parking info).
