Past Workshops
Wordstock for Teachers 2012: February 8 & April 21

In this two-part workshop, teachers will have the opportunity to create original work and receive coaching from professional writers, develop plans for a classroom action research writing project and unit of study to investigate and develop a line of inquiry regarding their own teaching practice. They will also determine a method of collecting evidence related to the established line of inquiry.

We will immerse teachers in the writing process in order to gain a comprehensive look at the craft and art of writing. We will address pre-writing activities, writing traits, revision, and effective conferencing with students. Teachers will have the opportunity to practice and share their understanding of the concepts presented as outlined in the Resource Packet. Teachers will also receive valuable writing-focused resources to use with students.  Between sessions, teachers will be asked to keep a journal and contribute to an online discussion group regarding their area of focus for their action research work. Teachers will share their findings and present evidence that supports their line of inquiry on April 21.
