education

Wordstock isn’t just a once-a-year event. Throughout the year, our education programs strive to promote writing and literacy in the community.

At Wordstock, we believe that teachers who write offer a gateway for students to write. We invite you to join our vibrant community of writers, readers, educators, and learners and take part in our Education Programs, where you will:
Deepen and develop your capacity as a writer by participating in engaging, creative, and practical exercises led by leaders in the field
Renew your commitment to exploring the craft of writing with your students
Connect your students to professional writers and artists
Gain valuable, practical classroom materials and classroom resources
Share best practices, challenges, support, and solutions with colleagues

be a teacher: Wordstock offers accredited professional development opportunities and a writing group for teachers throughout the year.

be a student: Wordstock works with the Right Brain Initiative to create even more arts integration opportunities in local public schools including author residencies in classrooms and writing events for families. With more than thirteen years experience working in Portland area schools and nearly 20 professional writers on our roster, we’re ready to support schools in their efforts to give every student the chance to be a writer.

be a writer: Wordstock brings a series of world-class writers to Portland each year to work with aspiring writers in the community.
