Books-to-Film Festival

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Let’s go to the movies!

The Books-to-Film Festival is happening this Memorial Day Weekend, on Saturday, May 23rd and Sunday, May 24th. The festival, sponsored by McMenamins, will be held at 3 different locations: Baghdad, Kennedy School and Mission theaters. For the full schedule, click here.

The films: A Clockwork Orange, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Color Purple, Fahrenheit 451, James and the Giant Peach, Jaws, Midnight Cowboy, and Sometimes a Great Notion.

A talented filmmaker can take a fantastic book and tell its story to the audience in a new and interesting way. We’ve put together a weekend full of favorite books that successfully morphed into favorite films – classics as books AND films. See you there, and stop by the Wordstock table at the festival and say “hi!”

Volunteer! If you are interested in being a festival volunteer, great (and bring a friend).  Email us at volunteer@wordstockfestival.com and let us know what days/times/locations that you’re available to help.
