Brian
Libby is a writer and critic living in Portland, Oregon. In addition to
Tales From the Oregon Ducks
Sideline, his first book, as a longtime journalist he has written
about architecture, film, visual arts, travel, food, business, science and
breaking news for publications such as The New York Times, Premiere, The Christian Science Monitor,
Metropolitan Home, The Oregonian, and Dwell. He is also an accomplished photographer and
filmmaker. Most recently, his short film “Route 23” was
exhibited at the Portland International Film Festival and Exploding Cinema
in London.Brian is a passionate life-long Ducks football fan. He attended his first game at Oregon’s Autzen Stadium with his dad at age eight in 1980, a 7-7 tie against Kansas. He grew up watching a succession of Duck greats such as Reggie Ogburn, Chris Miller, Lew Barnes, Derrick Loville, Bill Musgrave, and Danny O’Neil. Brian traveled to the 1995 Rose Bowl to see Oregon play Penn State, and over the years has written frequently about his Ducks fandom.
Brian was raised near Portland in McMinnville, Oregon and is a 1995 graduate of New York University. He lives in Southeast Portland with his partner Valarie and their cat, Ruthie.
