Alan L. Bauer is a professional freelance photographer specializing in the natural history of the Pacific Northwest. A lifelong resident of the Pacific Northwest, Alan lives in the Cascade foothills east of Seattle with his caring family and border collie.

His publication credits include Backpacker, Odyssey, CityDog, Northwest Runner, Oregon Coast, and Northwest Travel magazines. He was a featured “Master Photographer” for his macro work in Smart Photography in 2006. Prior to his involvement with the new Day Hikes book series he was co-author of “Best Desert Hikes” and “Best Dog Hikes: Inland NW” with The Mountaineers Books.
