Let’s go to the movies!
The Books-to-Film Festival is happening this Memorial Day Weekend, on Saturday, May 23rd and Sunday, May 24th. The festival, sponsored by McMenamins, will be held at 3 different locations: Baghdad, Kennedy School and Mission theaters. For the full schedule, click here.
The films: A Clockwork Orange, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Color Purple, Fahrenheit 451, James and the Giant Peach, Jaws, Midnight Cowboy, and Sometimes a Great Notion.
A talented filmmaker can take a fantastic book and tell its story to the audience in a new and interesting way. We’ve put together a weekend full of favorite books that successfully morphed into favorite films – classics as books AND films. See you there, and stop by the Wordstock table at the festival and say “hi!”

Wordstock is powered by volunteers. Each year, hundreds of Portlanders volunteer for Wordstock the weekend of the festival. Be one of them! Volunteers get a chance to see the workings of the festival up close. As a bonus, volunteers get a Wordstock t-shirt and free festival admission for the entire weekend. Volunteer for a few hours or the entire weekend, volunteer with friends and family! Sign up here, and if you have any questions after filling out the form, e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
